I recognize that some form of ‘citizen policing’ may be necessary in the current climate. However, not everyone lives in a nuclear family. Where groups of young people share the same house, they constitute a ‘household’ and should be allowed to exercise together, without censure.

I am very excited to have won the Daily Mirror/Val McDermid crime short story competition, which is published in today's Daily Mirror. My first attempt at a crime story! Buzzing!

I am absolutely blown away by this. The Booker judges got it so right this time. What a brilliant, excruciating, heartbreaking, funny story. I don’t want it to end.

Talk about a televisual cultural void! BBC1 tonight: 6:05 The Hit List, featuring pop stars from the noughties (aka 'celebrities'); 6:50 Celebrity Catchpoint; 7:20 Celebrity Mastermind; 7:50 Pointless Celebrities (apt!). Who is a 'celebrity' and why does anyone watch this drivel?
