“I have been part of MJK from the time it laid foundation and I feel happy that I could be a part of it. On the first day of Mata Jai Kaur clinic, I registered patients the whole day; and mama ji said, "The pillars of this hospital are Suman and Raj". This was heartwarming.

As the hospital was soon making its mark among the villagers, the Khushee Mamta program started where counsellors were recruited. During the training, I thought I should also try it and I was eager to know more about it.

After the training, when I became a counsellor, my confidence grew and I am happy to help women throughout their pregnancy. This is my first job, and when I got my first salary, my happiness knew no bounds.

It is not that I did not get money from home, but the happiness of woman is different when she earns on her own.”

Mata Jai Kaur is a non-profit organization that runs the Khushee Mamta (KM) Program in partnership with Sangath #KhusheeMamta is a lay counselor-led treatment program for #perinatal depression in rural Rajasthan, India.

The Counsellors of KM series highlights counsellor experiences providing community-based mental health services. Tula Tea, in Vancouver, Canada, creates organic chai blends designed to support women's well-being. These counsellor profiles celebrate our partnership with Tula Tea.
