So proud of my lab for our latest work out today in Nature Publishing. We took advantage of transposable elements and CRISPR to perform targeted insertion of cargo DNA in the Arabidopsis and soy genomes. Led by Peng Liu. nature.com/articles/s4158…. 🧵

We present a manuscript in which we describe the genetics of natural variation in the ploidy of A. lyrata from the White Sea to the Bering Strait, resequencing whole genomes of > 400 A. lyrata from herbarium and seed collections. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

🚨 Excited to share this #preprint from my postdoc in the Lippman lab Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, in collab. with Michael Schatz & many others! Using pan-genomics & pan-genetics across the Solanum genus 🍅🥔🍆 we reveal gene duplications 🧬 as contingencies in crop engineering. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

so, I have now also moved to Bluesky, Alexandros Bousios.bsky.social. The thing I miss the most is the constant flow of information on papers, interesting findings, discussions etc., which has nearly disappeared on Twitter. I will live a double life for now, and see how it goes!

Beautiful collaboration led by Tetsuji Kakutani and Sayuri Tsukahara on unravelling the fine changes that can make a centrophobic TE become centrophilic and vice versa! The devil is in the details for these TEs. nature.com/articles/s4158…
