Is humility, and the authenticity to celebrate the success of others, qualities that you display & value within your workplace? “A good leader is a person who takes a little more than their share of the blame and a little less than their share of the credit.” - Arnold H Glasgow

Thought-provoking... On our Applied Leadership course we ask for one word reactions to how you feel about what you've just experienced. The course is great... but it'll make you think! ...and yes, hyphenation could be considered cheating. #ACFOfficer Army Cadets UK

Last week we kicked off our latest Applied Leadership course with a debate around Leadership Vs Management and what Leadership means to you... Clearly there is a balance. Have you got it right? Share your worst example of where you've seen it go wrong. #ACFOfficer

Looking forward to our next Applied Leadership session later this week. I'm not going to lie, it's one of my highlights of the week. Not sure what that says about me? #ACFOfficer #Leadership

IOT Alumni. Now you've gone off into the big wide world of #leadership. What is the one concept, model or learning point that has made a difference for you? (if any!) Starter for ten: Mission Command and becoming comfortable letting the team be brilliant. #ACFOfficer #IOTAlumni

Last week we discussed David Rock's SCARF model. (A nice summary of the model here: loom.ly/EcfkgR0 ) Time to share the wealth. ACF Officers; give us your single top tip in ensuring your team are moving towards Reward and feeling trusted. #ACFOfficer #SCARF

A bit like football teams changing managers, as the new leader of a team there is a chance you are taking on either an under performing or over performing team. Regardless of which, you are introducing change. ACF Officers how are you managing this? #ACFOfficers #ShareTheWealth

We have some amazing and inspirational women leaders in the Army Cadets UK. On this #InternationalWomensDay take a moment to recognise their contribution and the example they are showing to the next generation of leaders. #UnderTheRadar #GenderEquality

Happy Pie Day (For those with dates in US format). No hidden leadership messages today, just tell us the best Pie? *It's Steak and Ale* #LightRelief #PiDay

In our latest #IOT session we spoke about the TAPS Model. Immensely powerful once aware of it. As #leaders when a team member comes to you for guidance how often do you tell them a solution disguised as a question? "Why don't you...?" - Is not asking anything. #ACFOfficer

Following on from our TAPS model last week, below is a book we'd recommend for helping getting those questions framed appropriately. We're always open to suggestions so give us a comment if you have other recommendations? #Coaching #ACFOfficer

It's National take a walk in the park day. Our Coaching walk on the IOT Course is regularly one of the sessions named as the most productive. Taking time out, away from the usual location, is a great way to talk to your team. How do you make time for those crucial conversations?

A gentle reminder to check in on yourself... How you doing? Over doing it? Skipping that exercise time to get "more work done"? To be the best leader you can be, you can't be busy *all* of the time. You have our permission to check in on yourself! #OwnOxygenMaskFirst #ACFOfficer

Mistakes happen, without mistakes we wouldn't have Post-It Notes, but how do you create an environment where your team feel comfortable making mistakes? Give the team freedom (within boundaries) to make mistakes, enjoy the air of trust, and marvel at the creativity released.

Last night we said farewell to our latest cohort of new Officers. They've been an engaging and receptive bunch, ready to make a difference to thousands of cadets. Our parting session reminded them to take the Helicopter view and keep in mind the aim and big picture. #ACFOfficer

Often referred to as a "Condor Moment" (Not sure that reference will stand for much longer), as #leaders it is important to take a metaphorical step back before acting. Things are seldom as desperate as they first appear and that pause for contemplation is invaluable. #ACFOfficer
