The Fontan procedure is applied to various single-ventricle defects. Advances in surgery and postop care have significantly improved survival rates. Estimates suggest that over 70,000 patients worldwide live with Fontan circulation and expected to double in 20 years. #ACHD ❤️‍🩹

Patients with a dominant RV after a Fontan may exhibit a greater decline in systemic ventricular function over time. This decline becomes more pronounced after the first 10 years postop compared to those with a dominant LV; though in this adult it still looks pretty good #ACHD ❤️‍🩹
