This Labor Day, thank unions for:
✔️weekends
✔️8-hour workdays
✔️a minimum wage
✔️paid overtime
✔️breaks during work
✔️the right to strike
✔️child labor laws
✔️workplace safety standards
Now, let us grow the trade union movement and win more for workers.
Seems like the message hasn't changed! Win by any means necessary! Get geared up Philly, the national haters and prognosticators against our QB will be in full effect again while they just win! Go Birds 🦅
"welfare queens are having kids for the welfare checks" and "we should give people money in exchange for having kids" are not contradictory if you're racist :)
there's a weird argument that says that we shouldn't do single-payer healthcare in the US bc other nations that have it have long wait times. here, we pay with $, in other nations, they pay with "time." But this doesn't really make sense +
first off, anyone who doesn't have money doesn't get care at all. or goes into debt to obtain it. these arguments abt time vs money have nothing to say about lack of care or debt, which is a huge moral abdication. +
so "wait times are bad in single payer systems" is not an argument against single payer necessarily. it's an argument against not funding/staffing your systems such that inordinate wait times result!
I literally never endorsed her or heard a word from her team. I promise you, I have not talked to anyone, emailed anyone about endorsements, or even hinted that I would be open to endorsing her.
Nurses at University Medical Center New Orleans work tirelessly in dangerous conditions to provide the best care to their patients. They voted to form a union over 620 days ago & are still fighting for their first contract.
Unacceptable. UMCNO must deliver a fair contract now.
The argument that SEPTA is unpopular & inessential seems directly at odds with the argument that service cuts are simply theatrics meant to sow widespread chaos
Not sure how both things can be true at the same time
