Today is #WorldRefugeeDay. I am spending it in Syria with some of the 600,000 people who have returned from neighbouring countries after 14 years of conflict. Syria today is where returning Syrians — given security, opportunities and support — can finally stop being refugees.

This year, #WorldRefugeeDay comes with hope for millions of Syrians who can dream of going back home and rebuilding their lives. However, sustainable returns require livelihoods, infrastructure & services. The United Nations reiterates its commitment to help #Syria & its people recover.

I offer my deepest condolences to the families of victims and to the people of #Syria and reiterates the UN’s commitment to stand with Syria and its people.
