I want to tell you a story about computers, creativity and awe! (1/N)đŸ§” Sydney Brenner once said in 2012 that “nobody has actually read the human genome. I mean, computers have processed the human genome, but we all know computers are stupid.” (This is a talk I gave last week..)

1/9 New preprint out! 🍳 Our team at @EMBL, DKFZ, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center built #segger—a fast, accurate cell segmentation tool for ST. It’s a transcript-to-cell link predictor that matches transcripts to their cell origins in a snap!

Absolutely thrilled to share with you the final version of EPIclone, out now (open access) in nature. This has been an amazing collaboration with the lab of Lars Velten (@larsplus) at Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) nature.com/articles/s4158

Here is our new review article: “The role of microheterogeneity in cell fate decisions in neural progenitors and neural crest” sciencedirect.com/science/articl
Check it out if you are curious about how cell cycle or transcriptional noise affect fate selection in cell lineages.

A Cyerce kikutarobabai nudibranch from Okinawa. This one is very tiny - 3 mm long. I found it bouncing in the waves being torn from the reef by the water power. It was flying like a pink dot among the muddy water with debris.

The longer video of Cyerce kikutarobabai nudibranch is now on youtube. I hope you will enjoy it: youtu.be/-YF9AQxVYS0?fe

Excited to share #AlphaGenome, a start of our AlphaGenome named journey to decipher the regulatory genome! The model matches or exceeds top-performing external models on 24 out of 26 variant evaluations, across a wide range of biological modalities.1/6

DeepMind just dropped a 106-page paper unveiling AlphaGenome. This single model could completely redefine how we discover disease-causing mutations and drug targets. This is massive. đŸ§”
