Big contrats to first author Kaitlin Hulce in the Craik Lab at UCSF and the rest of the team. This one was a long time in the making. A first step towards finding a new way to inhibit these unusual viral proteases. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

All the hubbub over Twitter has me on the site again, against my better instincts... sigh. Anyway, check out our latest preprint here: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Check out our latest – an empirical and computational study of diverse heteroarene–tyrosine stacking interactions in solution. This was a rewarding multidisciplinary academic-industry collaboration. Much more to come with this system! tinyurl.com/3yf3ekb2

Using luciferin-based probe FeAL-1 we and our collaborators UC San Francisco and Merck SSF compared labile iron levels in healthy mouse liver with that in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma xenografts. Hepcidin treatment elevated LIP in both tissues. Congrats to the team!

Big congrats to the whole team, but especially first author and former joint postdoc Parker Deal who saw this multi-year effort through to a really satisfying result. This approach opens the door to more small molecule modulators of K2Ps.
