The North Carolina legislators’ case in Moore v. Harper relies in part on a piece of paper from 1818. But there’s a problem: The document they quote in their brief is a well-known fake. via @EthanHerenstein & Brian Palmer of Brennan Center politico.com/news/magazine/…

Dear Twitter, UCLA Center for Immigration Law and Policy is hiring! We will hire a recent law school graduate to start some time in the summer or fall of 2023. We do lots of interesting work at the intersection of research, advocacy, and litigation. Please spread the word! hr.mycareer.ucla.edu/applicants/jsp…

SCOTUS has agreed to consider the “independent state legislature theory,” a dubious reading of the Constitution that would eliminate checks and balances & increase partisan meddling in elections. Learn more about what’s at stake from Brennan Center ⬇️ youtube.com/watch?v=RdPZCM…

Recomendo demais... 5/5

Welcome!! UCLA School of Law is very fortunate to have you joining the faculty.

As Adam Winkler told me a year ago: “There is the irony that conservatives for the last 20 yrs have been emphasizing that corporations have rights... to influence electoral politics. And yet, now they’re trying to punish a company for trying to influence politics.”

Ralph Bunche was a Black American diplomat, and a leader of the U.N. process that created Israel. A celebrity in his day, he is now largely forgotten. UCLA Burkle Center UCLA School of Law scholar Kal Raustiala, on the Nobel Laureate: zps.la/3VNpK4i

One more story from Seminole, rare course with back to back par 5’s. My good friend Adam Winkler rolled in an 80 footer for eagle on hole 14. We went nuts. On hole 15, I had 230 into the wind. Roasted 3 wood left me a 30 foot putt. Poured it in!! Eagle bros!! Back to back!

“In the beginning, America was a corporation-the demands of business have shaped the nation and its governmental structures from the start… the corporation … had been bred into the very genes of the American democracy.” Excited to work through Adam Winkler’s new book.

In today’s The New York Times, Steven Mazie and me on how the Trump cases pose a major institutional test for #SCOTUS—and how essential it is for the justices to resolve them on terms that have at least some chance of appealing across the political spectrum: nytimes.com/2023/12/23/opi…

Fr UCLA School of Law now: David Savage dishes on spending time with #SCOTUS justices at + away from court - at lunches, book signings “where you really get a sense of the person they are.” He’s been on the beat since 1986, serving @LATimes audience. #CommunityEngagement
