Adeel Razi Is it because the rewards that led to natural intelligence are all grounded in evolution? Human intelligence was not developed by the human species from scratch. It’s the successor to successive previous intelligences going all the way back to microbial intelligence (such as it

When I realized how dangerous the current agency-driven AI trajectory could be for future generations, I knew I had to do all I could to make AI safer. I recently shared this personal experience, and outlined the scientific solution I envision TED Talks⤵️ ted.com/talks/yoshua_b…

🚨 Just out! Massive global ENIGMA-CNV study led by Ana Silva + David Linden (90+ authors!) reveals how rare copy number variants (CNVs) in the human genome disrupt brain structure. Landmark in human genetics 🌍🧬🧠 Basically 🌐They pooled T1-weighted brain MRI + genetic data

1/ Can AI be conscious? My @BBSjournal target article on ‘Conscious AI and biological naturalism’ is now open for commentary proposals. Deadline is June 12. Take-home: real artificial consciousness is very unlikely along current trajectories. cambridge.org/core/journals/…

Many cool results from this paper, including a multivariate twist of Simpson's paradox! Stronger salience FC at baseline predicts better cognition at baseline. Would children with larger salience FC increase also enjoy greater cognitive gains over time? Or is the reverse true??
