Yes, massive Medicaid cuts as proposed in the Big Budget Bill will be disastrous for rural hospitals. But it's just one example of the broad impact of the biggest cut in the history of Medicaid. A fund for rural hospitals would be like a band-aid for having a limb chopped off.

I know my colleagues already dropped this line (h/t: Brendan Duke), but it bears repeating - there already exists a rural hospital fund and it is called: 🚨🚨MEDICAID🚨🚨 politico.com/live-updates/2…

This proposal reads like "high-risk pools, but for rural hospitals" to me High-risk pools never worked as well as people wanted, and I worry that a rural hospital slush fund would face many of the same challenges (underfunding, limited access, etc) politico.com/live-updates/2…

Something to watch: before Stephen Miller's orders to start arresting people before their hearings at immigration courts. 98.5% of people attended their hearings. They are trying to undermine the courts.

In normal policing, there’s no concept of “doxxing,” the officers not only are unmasked their uniforms display their names and when conducting official business they show badges that have specific identifying numbers so everyone knows what’s up.

“In your average maternity ward, or your average nursing home, or your average rural hospital, Medicaid is usually the primary payer, the biggest line in the budget.. If that gets scaled back, that impacts everybody who goes there...” thebulwark.com/p/do-republica…

If GOP stands behind their regressive budget bill, they should defend it on the merits. Instead they're touting legislation that doesn't exist: fantasy bill that somehow doesn't widen deficits, slash Medicaid, or give its biggest benefits to the rich wapo.st/4naTi9c

The first batch of Byrd bath guidance from the parliamentarian has been released! Huge victory for Dems - Rs cannot defund CFPB. (Link to rulings in next tweet)

While some in the GOP are attempting back room deals on specific pieces of Medicaid cuts— make no mistake any cut to Medicaid would have an outsized impact on kids and adults with disabilities, seniors and caregivers. And that impact will come with body bags #DontKillOurMedicaid

I have obtained new nonpublic data from ICE that shows that 2/3 of the people it had booked into detention facilities this fiscal year had no criminal convictions at all. Less than 7% have violent convictions. Most convictions were for immigration, traffic, and vice offenses.

Misunderstood sleeper issue in OBBB cld mean the end of #SNAP as a national food assistance program available in all states. The cost-shift drafting means a state that can’t pay its share of benefits loses ALL fed $; a state that can only pay ½ has to cut enrollment by about ½.

Katie Bergh (@katie_bergh) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Important 🧵 on the stakes of Republicans’ extreme & unprecedented plans to slash federal $ for #SNAP & impose those costs on states: In some states, many *eligible* low-income people could lose access to the food assistance they need. Some states could even end SNAP entirely.

Many rural independent hospitals need help, regardless of this Big Budget Bill. The last thing they need is an over $800B cut to Medicaid, one of their primary payers, and overall the loss of coverage that means less paying patients and more uncompensated care.

Anthony Wright (el/he) (@aewright) 's Twitter Profile Photo

DrOzCMS The Marketplace rule issued today makes it harder to get on and stay on coverage. The reg terminates ACA coverage for some and discourages enrollment, leading to a smaller & sicker risk pool, leading to increased premiums. Here's Families USA's comment: familiesusa.org/resources/fami…

Anthony Wright (el/he) (@aewright) 's Twitter Profile Photo

While President Trump disavowed #ACA repeal in the campaign, his new reg (also in the budget bill) will make it harder to get on & stay on health coverage. Shorter & restricted enrollment periods, more cost-sharing, and much more. Read experts' comments: familiesusa.org/wp-content/upl…
