The N Management Systems Trial at Curyo is looking great given the late start. The most profitable strategy over the past 3 years, 125 kg/ha N bank, is looking good so far. The national average looks to be lagging behind, with significant N stress visible in nil N treatments.

Interesting to see a nitrogen strip from 2020 showing up in this years barley. 100kg/ha urea strip went out during a nutrition trial in 2020. No response observed in wheat (on vetch, low rainfall received after app). Got me thinking about the nitrogen bank effect James Hunt

An excellent essay. When viewed over time, agronomic change through incremental gains is "truly transformational." 👍Agronomists' activities "are are more akin to engineering than science" 👍 Australian context but concepts are applicable elsewhere. agronomyaustraliaproceedings.org/images/sampled…

Looks like we got lucky weather-wise for AgriFocus, this Wednesday at Inverleigh! Rego's essential, see link below. Key notes are James Hunt on cereal phenology and Cam Nicholson on an updated lime response calculator. Lots of other great presos too! Southern Farming Systems

Mid April sown barley at Millicent FAR Australia GRDC left plot is Rosalind with apex pruned by defoliation, Right winter 6row barley untouched. Different development speeds but Flowering times similar, half the height but similar head number👌perfect#reset canopy management

Winter barley lines will get home with petrol in the tank at Minyip 💪 some are showing signs of early sowing with no PGR/grazing. A great early sheep feed > grain option I think. Matt Witney Kenton Porker Amanda Box James Hunt Ed Hilsdon

Yield & gross margin results from past 4 seasons of the nitrogen management research at Curyo indicates significant profitability improvements are possible relative to the district average with most profitable treatments being Yield Prophet (50% probability) & 125kg/ha “N Bank”.

Too wet to look at GRDC HYC Canola. Quick farm tour by WA legend Ben Webb . Integration of livestock grazing, winter wheat & spring wheat in system to manage frost risk and increase whole farm yield! Thanks Ben great to see adoption.
