The numbers are in and they’re deeply concerning. Nanaimo’s homeless population has grown by 20% between 2023 to 2024 and tripled in less than 10 years. But this isn’t just about numbers. If we want real change, we need to understand the full picture πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/4lfdXa9

The CMHC just revised their housing start forecasts, and they show starts falling through 2027 (and prices rising substantially after 2025). Are any governments, anywhere, paying attention to this real-time collapse in housing construction?

It's exciting to see cities like #Winnipeg taking city-owned land and turning it into housing. These projects include nearly 40% affordable, supportive units, and indigenous-led development. We'll be watching the public hearing process on this one πŸ‘€ buff.ly/bGNHWKW

The federal government set a target to double housing starts to nearly 500,000 units. Meanwhile, the CMHC forecasts that by 2027, starts will only reach 220,000 - 50,000 *fewer* than in 2021. Despite this, there is no urgency whatsoever from the feds to address this issue.

As preliminary data from this year's homelessness count is released, we are seeing a continued increase in the number of Indigenous people experiencing homelessness in Metro Vancouver, highlighting the need for Indigenous-led solutions. ➑️ bit.ly/3H15rgP
