I can see that the responses justifying the targeting invoke examples like Julius Streicher, William Joyce, Hutu power radio etc. But all those examples involved due legal process. If you want to bring a case against media professionals & journalists, do so in a court of law.

Probably one of the most amusing cases of تكويع ("turning a corner"): a secular social media personality from Deraa who used to support the Assad regime now waves the white flag with the shahada and says: "The flag of truth we're proud to raise in all sects & religions"

Really is worth emphasising that any talk of regime change in Iran requires serious and careful thinking about the aftermath. One need only look at Gaza to see the results of talk about 'destroying Hamas' (i.e. regime change in Gaza) without a clear vision for the aftermath...

Thoroughly enjoying translating this Latin language grammar of Moroccan Arabic into English (hopefully will be out this year in Jordan). Currently on section discussing rare nouns not known to the common people. An impressive first Western effort to document an Arabic dialect.

There is no Al-Qaeda shadow government in Iran ready to take over if the Islamic Republic collapses. It’s right to be concerned about calls for regime change without thought for the aftermath, but this scenario really won’t happen…

I remember all too well the attempts by some opponents of the deal to distance themselves from the idea of advocating for a war with Iran. But if you advocated strikes on the nuclear program this is what you were advocating. Own your positions.

A Christian Spanish chronicler in 754, a few decades after the Islamic conquest, paints a morbid picture of the state of Spain. (From Aymenn J Al-Tamimi transl.) "For even if all limbs were turned into a tongue, human nature will never at all be able to tell of the ruin of [Spain]."

The text here is the 'Mozarabic Chronicle'- available in my English translation online and my Arabic translation recently published in Damascus. Vital source on the early Islamic conquest and first Umayyad governors!
