#LookBackInAnger at the Almeida Theatre is a hard watch. It’s one thing to study it (as I did 20 years ago) but another to endure the company of Jimmy Porter. His violent misogyny & the toll on Alison feels shocking to now, so must have utterly floored audiences in 1953.
