At 2 min per block, I guess this is equivalent to a 2 block reorg on bitcoin, so perhaps not that big a deal. Monero mining reward/subsidy seems to currently be worth about $4MUSD/month (vs $1.6B/mo for BTC), so also not super expensive to mess with economic incentives.
