Developers often switch branches unnecessarily to perform some Git acrobatics—stash, run into conflicts, unstash, and lose changes. Don't do this. You can already perform many common operations without switching branches.

Happy Monday devs! As usual, focusing on one thing is paying off. I'm now just waiting for the confirmation email from Amazon. Can't wait to give away a bunch of free copies. 📚 Have a wonderful and productive week!

Good day, Celebrating it in the garden with these beautiful flowers. I even felt like running, so I went for a 5k but stopped short so I have something to run towards later this week 🙂 Don’t forget to rest, my friend. You’ve worked for it.

Apart from my own self-publishing journey, it's great when you see others try their hand at the same. Congrats to you Akos ! Check out his book!

Your LLM output is as good as your prompting skills. People didn't get superpowers with LLMs. They can just generate more stuff faster. If the prompt is average or not too specific, so is the result. I guess we still need brains.

Gm ☀️ It’s a public holiday here, so what better way to spend it than exploring some cool new stuff? Taking notes, there's so much good stuff. ✍️ Do you know what this is?

No, you're not insane for using the debugger in DevTools. Using console.log for debugging is popular here for the same reason why arguments like React vs Next.js are viral. Most people here haven't worked on projects and problems big enough where the difference makes sense.

I told Cursor to write tests for an API endpoint and run the tests until they pass. The API is inserting data into MongoDB, it can throw 404 in 2 different cases, and 200 in one case. Simple. It just can't do it. It's been running for 15 minutes and it even rewrote the API 🙂

I picked the most iconic duo of @vite and vitest for my book despite Jest being more popular. I still think this was 100% the best choice

I taught my colleague a powerful survival skill: Saying no. My teammate often got pulled into projects he shouldn't have been involved in. Wanting to be nice, he never said no to the other team. This affected his progress, and as a great engineer, we needed him focused on the

GM ☀️ Didn’t open X for 4 days, let me know what you did! I started wearing the Whoop. People reduce it to a $30/mo device that tells you you don’t sleep enough but I noticed: - doing an extra training session every day - meditating more - skipping late-night X browsing
