Going into the Preston match with low expectations for the opening game, never mind the season, ended up being fairly encouraged by what I saw. Yes, a frustrating equaliser to give away, but overall was happy with the performance. Onwards and upwards on that evidence.

Literally overwhelmed on Saturday with all the good wishes from Rangers fans checking up on my health, many saying I looked well. Good, as I felt well. Still not anywhere near 100 per cent - but will be having my operation at the end of the month. Thank you, everyone for asking.

Am halfway home. Another three hours to go. I’m hoping I might have stopped fuming by then. I refuse to dig out any of our team, as the effort was all you’d want. But that team selection for the game was an insult to all QPR fans, especially those inside the ground. Criminal.

Sending best wishes to the wonderful Linda Fitzgerald as she undergoes knee replacement surgery today. My own surgery, to remove the miscreant gallbladder I'm living with, also scheduled for today, has now been postponed until late October. Sigh.

With only a handful of Issue 395 remaining from the opening day, we will have them available ahead of the Charlton game tomorrow ONLY from myself on SAR, or from Julie outside The Loft. They are likely to sell out quickly. Issue 396 will be out, as planned, for Stoke at home.

Morning, peasants. Early start - thanks Sky. Am expecting - no, demanding - a big improvement on last Saturday, and think that's what we'll get. Anyway, only a limited number of these remaining, so blah blah blah...

It wasn't perfect by any means - but it was a perfect enough reaction to Coventry to send us all home happy. We made hard work of it at times, but that just made the denouement all the more enjoyable. Overdue, yes, but you could see what it meant at the end - to players and fans.

Having shifted the remaining copies of Issue 395, I was able to see my first kick-off in I can't remember how long - AND get to stay behind at the end and witness the full-time celebrations. Both felt very satisfying. Thank you to all who now own a copy of Issue 395.
