Drones have been a game changer in NE Alabama. This morning spraying a corn fungicide trial at Jamie Roberts farm in Collinsville. Many of our small corn fields surrounded by trees or bordered by houses are able to have a fungicide applied.

Some scouts walk, some ride quads This is how I cover the clods: I ride on the back of a real dinosaur Purchased cheap off the showroom floor If you’re in need of a scout & won’t pout ā€˜Bout trampled crops or compaction Don’t stall & give me a call I’ll get ol’ Rex into action!

Septoria brown spot is one of our most common foliar diseases. However, rarely does it become a ā€œproblemā€, but when it does…..it’ll blow out the top of the canopy. In 18 years, only the fifth time I’ve seen it this bad and the field received a fungicide (QoI + DMI) #mscrops

Tomato Tuesday: Tomato spotted wilt virus symptoms. Plants are stunted; upper leaves b/c distorted & turn pale green. Dark spots are often visible on infected leaves; leaves take on a bronzed appearance. Thrips vector the virus; resistant varieties are available #Virus #Tomato

This farmer is doing some good work! Tried this sometime and our dogs made meals of our rabbits. Now it's either the dogs to be open or the rabbits.

Lots of soybeans starting to flower across North Dakota. With cool temps and more rain in the forecast, risk for white mold is expected to continue climbing. Remember that canopy closure is incredibly important for the white mold apothecia to form.

Tar spot disease of corn found today at very low levels in two locations in Tift County, GA. This is the first report in GA in 2025. Tar spot is a month behind southern rust, but could affect late-planted corn if it continues to develop in our state. UGA Extension.

I've had a few people ask about the Tarspotter app. Crop Protection Network is now using the Crop Disease Forecasting Tool online: cropprotectionnetwork.org/crop-disease-f…. The current weather pattern is low risk for tar spot, but I expect we'll see more show up in corn due to good conditions in June.
