Arguments are being made about when it is and isn’t okay to put a dog down. A SCRAPS volunteer is making the point that more volunteers are needed to make these dogs adoptable. Others argue that volunteers are fired for standing up against euthanasia practices at the facility.

63 people are losing their jobs at Providence Inland Northwest after the health care network decided to cut four programs. Providence says this is a cost-saving move that will keep essential services running. 4 News Now

Three of those programs are Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy services. One local Rehab facility that will be picking up the slack tells me they will do their best to accommodate more patients, but warn this could overburden the health care system. 4 News Now

Still a very active scene here on I-90 WSP is investigating a multiple-vehicle collision. It tells me a deputy is critically injured, and a motorcyclist is also seriously injured. 4 News Now

WSP says this all started when a deputy tried to help a man who had hay bales that fell off his truck. His patrol car was then struck by a motorcyclist, which ricocheted into the deputy. WSP says this will likely be a full-day investigation. 4 News Now

The crash this morning west of Spokane on I-90 resulted in the death of a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office sergeant.

The family of Ethan Chapin has expressed support for this lawsuit, filed by Madison Mogen’s family. In response, a judge issued a temporary restraining order that stopped the City of Moscow from releasing crime scene photos of Mogen’s room. 4 News Now

The families’ attorney says they were shocked by the early August image releases, calling it a privacy violation. The City of Moscow has since said it won’t release any more footage from inside any of the victims’ bedrooms. 4 News Now

A Spokane Valley Fire Department spokesperson has confirmed that the fire is out. Crews are now working on mop-up, he says they will be here for several hours. Nobody was injured, but two families were displaced. The home where it started has major damage and fire temporarily

The procession for Sgt. Ken Salas is just about to start. Salas dedicated 34 years to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. He died in the line of duty on August 9th, just 30 shifts away from when he planned to retire. 4 News Now
