I really enjoyed this post (and underlying report) from Alex Schafran. 61% of Californians who earn 80-120% of median income are people of color. We need solutions for them, too, and it mostly won't come from subsidies. It's gonna be missing middle housing alexschafran.substack.com/p/californias-…

The community overwhelming supports this project. While it may be fun to highlight the worst of Marin, it is hardly newsworthy that there are opponents. Every housing development has opponents. Support for housing in Marin is growing rapidly. That's news. Let's hear about that.

This is disappointing and short-sighted. Before leaving in April, I spent five years helping grow and lead California YIMBY--building YIMBY power, advocating for infill housing, and making building homes near jobs, transit, and community resources faster and cheaper. This is not that.

Whether it's 2 Governors or local elected officials, I've always opposed recalls and oppose the recalls on our Nov 5th ballot. They're undemocratic, costly, and chaotic. They prevent our officials from governing and deplete badly needed resources from our communities.

As she does on countless other issues, Barbara Lee speaks for me on recalls as well – past & present. I oppose them on principle. Except in rare circumstances of serious misconduct, recalls are undemocratic and a waste of public funds.
