First week in Alberta as a Postdoc Fellow University of Alberta Alberta Diabetes 🇨🇦 Grateful for my colleagues Dr Peter A Senior Braulio A. Marfil-Garza for making the transition so easy. I’ve already seen an ice hockey game thanks to XX and experienced -34 degrees…bring on the next few years! 🥶

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a day celebrating and promoting gender equality in science 👩🔬 Read this blog by our Research Comms Lead Josie Clarkson on women in #Type1Diabetes research: jdrf.org.uk/stories/its-re… #WomenInSTEM #GBDoc #WomenInScience

A question for #GBDoc as well as FreeStyle Libre - can the freestyle libre go through the X-ray or magnetic scanner at an airport? There is various conflicting info online and no info on the U.K. website I can find easily.

American Diabetes Association - DiabetesPro Braulio A. Marfil-Garza Congrats to Alice Carr and Braulio A. Marfil-Garza who were co-authors on this abstract, representing work of many people over the last 20 years Alberta Diabetes UAlberta Med & Dent

Great to see the BETA-2 score being applied outside Islet Tx to new onset #t1d Fasting c-pep just as good as stimulated in a composite score. Maybe fewer MMTTs in new onset trials? Critical Path Institute (C-Path) Alberta Diabetes UAlberta Med & Dent

Hear Dr Alice Carr talk about the safety of multiple sequential islet infusions #celltherapy #t1d #ada2024 Alberta Diabetes

Clinical ITx at the UAlberta Medicine is an ideal platform to help inform the future of beta cell replacement therapies. We found that multiple intraportal infusions- common in ITx, do not cumulatively increase the portal venous pressure, lowering risk of portal thrombosis #ADA2024

Final talk for me at #ADA2024 discussing kidney function outcomes after islet transplant alone using out 20 year data from the UAlberta Medicine CITP eppro02.ativ.me/appinfo.php?pa… #ADASciSessions

Long-term renal safety data is needed for informed decision making in ITx and future stem cell-based therapies. I’ll be presenting a small part of our larger analysis of 20 years of kidney function after ITx. 2pm Short oral station 4 #EASD2024 Alberta Diabetes

EASD 2022 🇸🇪 vs #EASD2024 🇪🇸 I interviewed Alice Carr when I first met her two years ago - she’s a fantastic #Type1Diabetes researcher Alberta Diabetes whose own #T1D diagnosis helps motivate her #research. Read Alice’s story: jdrf.org.uk/resources/mum-…
