My husband made a comment about resident salaries that has stuck with me. After a long OB night Chief shift where I delivered 5 babies via CS (all urgent/emergent), he said “You made approx $100 that shift - that’s $20 to perform life saving surgery for those people.” #woof

New data: Long hours (≥60 per week) & extended shifts (≥24 hours) pose a danger to patient safety & to residents. The combination has a synergistic effect, amplifying medical errors, car crashes, and needle sticks. It’s time to rethink the way we’ve always done things.

Seeing the plaque in your coronary arteries with your OWN EYES Is associated with better risk factor control. So if you get a cardiac CT ask to see the images. You will likely change your behaviour as a result. And that is the Holy Grail of prevention.
