The Sumner Tunnel will be closed for 8 weeks starting today. To encourage people to use public transportation during the closure, the MBTA will not collect fares on the Blue Line. This morning an inbound BL car was packed with commuters.

Wondering what's going on in the Sumner Tunnel? Mass. Transportation gave reporters a tour of the worksite this afternoon. I got to see crews installing ceiling arches. The repair work is about 30% complete and a rep. for MassDot says the Tunnel should reopen, as scheduled, Aug. 31
