Shri Amar Jain, Corporate Lawyer explained rights & entitlements of PwDs at 13th National Webinar on Rights of Persons with Disabilities in India organised by DoJ under its flagship scheme DISHA & spoke about various forms of discriminations prevailed in society.

He shared details of offences and penalties/penal provisions against the same, also given the mechanisms under law for the relief & compensation. He also praised the Tele Law & Nyaya Bandhu programmes of DoJ for reaching the marginalised sections.

He also laid emphasis on accessibility in all its forms whether physical or digital to be made compliant with the needs of disabled and other marginalized group.

After persistent effort, the Department of empowerment for persons with disabilities, government of India, has begun using image descriptions for all its pictures on Twitter. This is no small thing and marks a significant development in the Accessibility ecosystem.
