When you are in Paris after giving an talk at Collège de France and your aunt arrives in Paris to give a talk at the OECD… we have dinner on a Paris rooftop and catch up Naila Kabeer

Reconfiguring Indian Ocean Studies and getting Transpacific in the U.K. with Meha Priyadarshini on the happy occasion of Nancy Um’s visit to the Sainsbury Research Unit (SRU) for the study of the arts and material culture of Africa, Oceania and the Americas at University of East Anglia!

I am still thinking thoughts that were expressed in this book… Thank you Women Unlimited for being such a fabulous publisher

Excited to give this talk in the presence of N.S. Madhavan! There’s more to Kerala (and literature from Kerala) than the novels we have been teaching in English depts for the past two decades :-)

Fireworks, heated discussion, and the shining eyes of students listening with captive interest: what a wonderful afternoon at the venerable Kerala institution CMS College, Kottayam, speaking about N.S. Madhavan’s epic work, Litanies of Dutch Battery, in the presence of the author! 🙏🏼

It was a pleasure to help bring together our diverse yet convergent approaches here. Rajiv Mohabir I spoke about Whale Aria, connecting it to whales in the work of Naiza Khan, John Akomfrah, and others.

I am thrilled to be hosting Amitav Ghosh at King's College London in November as the closing event of IATIO MSCA Project and the Global Cultures Institute annual lecture. Generously supported also by King's India Institute - spread the word, sign up, and join us!

It was amazing to host eminent prizewinning author Tan Twan Eng at King's College London with full house attendance by London’s Malaysian community! A rich discussion about Penang’s place in the Indian Ocean world and the writerly imagination. @penanginstitute @georgetownlit
