Today the Senate will act on the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), a misguided and unconstitutional bill. Its authors have stubbornly refused to engage in good faith to fix glaring threats to free speech and the well-being of the kids they claim to be protecting. My statement:

I just posted a new essay to SSRN titled “The Artist’s Posthumous License.” It observes that an artist’s works often become unavailable after the artist dies & provides an easy, private law solution to the problem. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Excellent piece by coralie kraft about two political dynamos we know and love each attacked by folks trying to derail their political career with nude images. Great discussion of deepfakes. @leaderbookfl Norma Buster nytimes.com/2024/07/31/mag…

Another trademark- focused entry level, Felicia brings a fashion perspective to her scholarship with her paper on color (namely, pink!) and cultural functionality.

Texas of course being the state with a history of arresting people for selling dildos in private, even to consenting couples. In 2004, they sent undercover narcotics officers into arrest a woman hosting tupperware-style parties for sex toys.

Wow: “As advanced biotechnology increasingly transforms what sex is and how the sexed human body functions, rightwing gender ideologists will gain the ability to hijack the technological means to change sex in the service of reinforcing and deepening sexual difference…”

Some fun ChatGPT tricks to help with writing. I have a stack of mostly-written papers that I'm trying to get over the finish line (or, in some cases, not ...) and have been having fun employing AI for some help.

There's a syndicated (non-paywall) version here, which is fascinating. We're perennially politically unpopular, making us uniquely vulnerable and making defense of sexual expression vital to EVERYONE's right to free speech. Great work by Hallie Lieberman. yahoo.com/entertainment/…
