The ball only left the infield once in the fourth, but the Mets plated two runs on an infield single and a fielder's choice after a one-out error. Marte lined an RBI single off Taj Bradley's foot and then Taylor beat out a DP with the bases loaded. Mets 2, Rays 1, after four.

Starling Marte came through with the bases loaded for the second straight inning. He laced a two-out, two-run single through the left side. Marte's hit followed a bases-loaded walk by Juan Soto. Mets 5, Rays 1, after five.

Clay Holmes' final line vs. Rays: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. Holmes only threw 79 pitches in the outing - his fewest since a rain-interrupted outing in Washington on April 26. Holmes worked his ERA down to 2.87. Mets 5, Rays 1, after five.

Carlos Mendoza's decision to turn to Paul Blackburn in relief of Clay Holmes with a four-run lead did not go according to plan. Blackburn gave up four hits and only recorded one out before being removed. All four runs have scored. Mets 5, Rays 5, top six.

Max Kranick serves up a two-run home run to Danny Jansen and the Rays suddenly have the lead. It's a six-run inning for Tampa. Rays 7, Mets 5, mid-six.

FINAL: Rays 7, Mets 5. The Mets squandered a four-run lead when Paul Blackburn and Max Kranick combined to give up six runs in the sixth. The Mets were 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position as their six-game win streak was snapped. The Mets are 45-25.

Kodai Senga is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring strain. He will be reassessed after two weeks, so relatively good news for the Mets.

Paul Blackburn has not had the results he would have liked as a reliever. Now, with Kodai Senga on the shelf, he will get another chance as a starter for the Mets. northjersey.com/story/sports/m…

Griffin Canning's final line vs. the Rays: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 6 ER, 5 BB, 2 K, 89 P. Canning was not sharp, and the Rays cashed in on the majority of their opportunities with runners on base against him. Canning's ERA is now 3.80. Rays 6, Mets 0, top five.

Brett Baty came out of today's game with right groin tightness. He's considered day to day. He is not expected to go for imaging at this point.

Mets fans have to like that. In his first at-bat against the Braves in a Mets uniform, Juan Soto laces an opposite-field solo home run to left-center. It's Soto's 14th home run of the season. Mets 1, Braves 0, mid-one.
