We found our elephant today! Pop down to Sutton Park visitor centre to have a look for yourself! Andrew Tims St Giles Hospice

Year 6 children Lift Lea Forest have been painting tsunamis in response to their humanities study ‘fragile earth’. Simplifying photographic images and mixing colour are just two of the things the young artists have explored during the project, so far.

Year 6 children Percy Shurmer are making a series of wonderful self portraits using painting and drawing techniques. We’ll continue next week with further embellishment to the surface of the artwork using luscious metallics applied using collage and printing.

Year 5 children Montgomery Primary Academy have been heat-transferring their superb ancient Egyptian pharaoh artwork onto fabric in preparation for embellishing with stitch over the coming weeks. The reveal was sooooo exciting! Tiyana Thompson Fozia Nisar

Year 6’s wonderful self portraits are almost complete. Today they’ve finished off applying tone to their artwork, and introduced further texture with acrylic paint, printing ink and gold leaf. Next week Percy Shurmer, the children will be preparing their portraits for exhibition.

Year 5 children E-ACT Nechells Academy have been heat transferring their wonderful abstract ‘slums’ artwork to fabric. The next stage will be involve hand and machine stitching further detail - doors, windows, roofs… exciting stuff!!

Today’s session with Year 5 E-ACT Nechells Academy involved the children hand-sewing directly on top of their brilliant heat-transferred images. Machine embroidery was applied by me, as directed by the young artists. More stitching next week…

Year 6 children’s beautiful self portraits are complete Percy Shurmer. They are now fixed onto a wooden sheet and ready to be installed in the art gallery and a ‘new’ exhibition space over the next few weeks - exciting!!

Year 4 children Mansfield Green E-ACT Primary have also been making self portraits this half term. With one session to go, their stunning artwork is almost ready for exhibiting in the school art gallery.

KS2 children have made a sculpture Montgomery Primary Academy to showcase the children’s magnificent poetry. We have called it ‘Poet-Tree’. The first poems are now hanging on leaves from the sculpture, alongside the names of contemporary and historical poets trapped within tree structure.

Year 5 children E-ACT Nechells Academy have completed their textile project. The wonderful machine and hand-stitched artworks have been fixed to wooden mounts and are ready to be installed in the school art gallery and the head teachers office!!

A fabulous new exhibition has been installed Lift Lea Forest today. Comprising artwork produced by Year’s 3 and 6 children, the exhibition includes painting, drawing and screen printing, inspired by autumn, portraiture and tsunamis!

Our elephant is back home!! Thank you St Giles Hospice for looking after her! She is now in prime position in our school library! Andrew Tims E-ACT

Year 5 Montgomery Primary Academy have been making wonderful embroidered fabric pharaohs as part of their Ancient Egyptian study. They are now ready to be exhibited in the art gallery and around the school building, housed in these beautiful new display cases, after the half term break.

Year 2 children’s beautiful ’wheels and axles’ artwork has been re-presented and re-hung on the walls Lift Lea Forest today. The artwork was created using wet-felting techniques and involved the children leading their learning with colour, shape, pattern and texture decisions.

Following the fabulous Midlands Region Lift Schools event Percy Shurmer last week, the squeaky happiness hearts artwork, made by the children, are ready to be posted. Look out for them in the post this week! Miss Duffy

Year 4 children have completed their fantastic Roman soldier sculptures Montgomery Primary Academy. The young artists worked individually to make a section of the soldier, using clay, and then collaboratively to piece them together and paint to form a whole. Here’s a sneaky peek! Fozia Nisar

Year 3 children Mansfield Green E-ACT Primary have been making screen-prints based on their geography study about mountains. They have combined simple imagery and text to create these outstanding artworks, that individually look amazing, and together even better!

Year 4’s incredible Roman soldier sculptures are framed and ready to be installed in the art gallery Lift Lea Forest. The children worked with clay to form the individual soldier parts, before piecing the sections together to produce the whole.
