Can confirm the New York Times report today that Lt. Gen. Douglas Sims, the director of the Joint Staff, had a promotion to four-star general seemingly secured and then pulled back by Secretary Hegseth. Sims seen in Pentagon by most as nonpartisan, straightforward and bright.

The blue blob is coming to the East Coast later this week, with below-average temperatures lasting about five days — the longest stretch of summer for most places. But summer is far from over, with hot and humid conditions probably returning by mid-August.

Monday may be the most humid day of summer in the Corn Belt, with max dew points near 90 degrees. Corn sweat will pump extra moisture into a likely derecho in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa overnight. On Sunday, dew points reached 88 degrees in Boone and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The government is literally not collecting actual inflation data anymore. They’re just estimating what they think inflation is. They “suddenly” changed this in May 2025. Right before the tariffs started getting collected. How much more obvious can they make it for you guys?

Has it seemed particularly humid to you? A staggering 18 states and D.C. have experienced record-breaking humidity during July. This map shows how average dew points ranked in each state, compared with that state’s historical data. 🧵 Where and why it's been so sticky

Excessive humidity is about to go on a vacation! This downpour fuel will soon drift away from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. It's already vacated the Midwest. August will start on a much more comfortable note.
