Human kindness can significantly reduce the distress associated with #delirium. Eye contact, gentle words, reassurance, explanation of context - simple and quick to do, and very effective in improving the experience of the delirious patient. Build this into every interaction.

I found this letter by Keerthi Teja Gondi, MD. I have thought about the patient voice in feedback and assessment. I even set up a modified DISQ to collect feedback on myself, but I must say I haven't been very diligent with this. Food for thought. journals.lww.com/academicmedici…

We seem to be repeating studies examining what people want from healthcare services in diff med conditions. They repeatedly say they want honest/open/holistic conversations with a focus on what matters to them rather than focus on med condition & continuity of care British Geriatrics Society

Delirium has a visibility problem, not just a diagnostic one. For reasons that remain unclear to me we collectively walk by the suffering caused by #delirium without truly seeing it.

It's becoming very obvious that generative AI is making all forms of non-exam assessment totally obsolete. It's a threat to the integrity of education everywhere. It's not that hard to solve though - we just need more handwritten & in-person exams!

Brilliant plenary from Elissa Campbell ANZSGM #ANZSGM2025 - there’s overlap between geriatric and palliative medicine, but still lots that we can learn from each other. Good end of life care and advance care planning puts the person at the centre - always 💕✨
