This cannot be stated enough. Shout it from the rooftops. Sadly, it's necessary, but Celtic Park is open 4 nights a week for people who are hungry. For anyone.

Actually no such claim was made, I wrote my first thesis on Jackie and its available as a re print @Goldsmiths Press ...no one at Birmingham made this suggestion instead it was about the serious study of what was deemed trivial because associated with ordinary people

Years later Stuart Hall engaged with the emerging black British art scene, but a) he commented this was a project of support for marginalised artists and b) his emphasis was still on cultural production and not on the 'great artist' his or herself. See my article in SAQ 2016.

In 1976 Stuart Hall interviewed CLR James for the BBC. The tape, made by Mike Dibb, was sadly wiped unaired. This is the full transcript of their conversation, with intro by me, a glorious illustration by Molly Crabapple🇵🇷, and 🔥 editing by Max Nelson nybooks.com/online/2024/12…

A wonderful counter to the glib cliched pieces that have appeared in the Guardian now for decades....interesting so few write about older people like myself been here on and off since 1979...also for dissident images see Ottinger's Berlin trilogy
