And it kept getting better fan-girl moment 2: meeting Bola Owolabi APNA NHS - Asian Professionals National Alliance conference .You have shown just because something is hard doesn’t mean it can’t be achieved. Your legacy is running your mile as hard and as well as you can. You inspire me to keep running mine.

Listening to Prof Angie Doshani on the development of the Janam app. As seen in Independent Maternity Review NUH Trust work over many yrs language barriers significantly contribute to health inequalities & safety concerns The app: available in 6 languages, with public health messaging. Brilliant!

Baby Lifeline 💙 the sound of the #janamapp being installed during this session is amazing!

Angie Doshani - Language barriers can significantly affect health outcomes. The Janam App promotes culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate care by providing evidence-based info on emergencies, labour, postnatal care & more, supporting public health & empowering self-care

Amazing presentation by Sarah blackwell Lara Harrison Leicester's Hospitals on improving induction of labour pathways #patient experience # improved outcomes

We asked #MatSafety2024 speakers, Khalood and Angie Doshani, what needs to be considered by health professionals to improve care for women who do not speak English as their first language, from their personal and professional experience. 3/9

Appropriate Information and communication. “Women with limited English proficiency are at higher risk if interpreting services are not offered, as they may struggle to fully understand their care, which can impact their health outcomes.” Angie Doshani 6/9

Make interpretation services more appropriate. "Interpreters should be trained in perinatal anatomy and specific related conditions to ensure accurate and relevant communication, as general health translations may not cover these specialised topics.” Angie Doshani 9/9

An outstanding report from MBRRACE UK team It’s time to move from exploring and understanding the data and focus on actionable steps to drive meaningful change. We must ensure the next generation doesn’t become another statistic. @RoyalCollegeObsGyn NHS Race & Health Observatory NHS England
