If DC were a state, 700,000+ American citizens would have 2 votes in the Senate—and 17 million Americans would still have healthcare, 3 million would still have food assistance. DC’s values support these rights for all Americans. None of this should be up for debate.

May Eric rest in peace. Too many innocent lives taken by gunfire in our city. This one just a few blocks from my home, but it happens across our city far too often

It was a wonderful morning to celebrate our nation’s founding as my office walked in both the Capitol Hill Community and Palisades Fourth of July parades. On days like today we remember that in order for democracy to work for all of us, it must include all of us. #DCstatehood

Here are the facts: DC currently has only limited restrictions on what it can do with this land. For that to change, Congress would have to pass a new law over a filibuster in the Senate. The President has NO unilateral authority to force DC to do anything with the RFK site

It was a full few days of Senate advocacy as we worked to build support against three dangerous bills threatening Washingtonians. I will always keep fighting for DC Home Rule!
