The death penalty is fundamentally a poor person’s issue. I have never met a single person with money or resources on death row. Capital punishment means “those without the capital get the punishment.”

I just received an email from a Sister at a convent with same name as the pseudonym for the convent in my book Embracing Age politely asking if I’d been there as they had no record. Evidently some of the news coverage omits the “pseudonym” detail 😂

I continue to be inspired by the work of radical self-examination and service Catholic sisters engage in - most recently floored by the land justice work that centers racial and ecological healing that the Nuns and Nones are hosting nunsandnones.org/land-justice

Walking around my old college campus, it’s so apparent that much of the longing that adults feel for their college days is because it was the only time in their lives when they lived in close knit, walkable communities, saw friends everyday, rarely got into cars

No surprises here. Everyday practices including language shape health outcomes and experiences of aging. The next step is to ask How we begin to value all stages of the life course nytimes.com/2022/04/23/hea…

“In the world we have created, a wildfire will go wherever we have allowed fuel to accumulate. No army of fire control workers can turn it around, and they shouldn’t have to sacrifice themselves trying.” Thought-provoking op-ed by adriana petryna latimes.com/opinion/story/…

Has anyone had their work translated? A Korean nun just wrote me the most wonderful email asking to translate Embracing Age into Korean. I'd love to hear about folk's experiences with translations.
