Frogs have returned to the wildlife pond at our offices in #Grassington and have been busy - we've counted at least 20 frogs so far, and 9 clumps of frogspawn! Check your local ponds and take part in the PondNet #SpawnSurvey: freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/spawn-survey Freshwater Habitats Trust

Making the most of a break in the weather today! Out taking levels at a #niddponds #wetlandcreation site where we hope to create a series of shallow ponds and scrapes to benefit wildlife. First #skylark of the year serenading us from above.

Species spotlight...small and often unloved freshwater heroes! 🔎💙💦 Under the surface is an exciting array of creatures, some of which are the earliest colonist of new ponds and others which have surprisingly beautiful transparent larvae. freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/species/wiggli…

Very promising walkover of a new #wetlandcreation site in @nidderdalenl yesterday. Hoping to add to ponds dug last year, which already look good and support amphibians. Frog spawn recorded as part of Freshwater Habitats Trust spawn survey. Snipe and curlew heard. freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/spawn-survey

Are you looking for an excuse to get outside this month? There are still opportunities to take part in our Urban Pond Count project. Take a look at our interactive map to see if there is a survey square available near you: freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/projects/urban… @naturalengland @nechiefsci

Find out how we're working with @nidderdalenl to create new clean ponds and build the Freshwater Network in North Yorkshire. Kate Wright's article for The IES Environmental Scientist explains how the ponds will support Common Toad and other species ⬇️ the-ies.org/sites/default/…

Great day out last week with Freshwater Habitats Trust and Anne Carter looking at the ponds on #SkipwithCommon NNR. Good to see plenty of frog spawn and Great Crested Newt activity, with newt egg-laying noted in several of the ponds.

Enjoyed a visit to the specialist plant nursery at Nosterfield yesterday to see how we can work together to introduce some more diverse marginal and aquatic species into our #wetland creation schemes.

As a national charity, based across England and Wales, it’s vital that we get together from time to time 💚 At our staff away day last week at the Waddesdon we explored habitat we've created with partners. Thank you to the Rothschild Foundation for supporting this event.
