So how do we get from picture 1 to picture 2? Take on beautiful listed building, add one greedy, neglectful property owner and throw in a couldn't care less Louth County Council Voila....one disgraceful, avoidable mess. #derelictdrogheda

Thanks to the people who woke us all from our #DerelictIreland slumber, Frank O'Connor and Jude Sherry for their hospitality today. Inspirational people who started an unstoppable movement.

We did the #100DaysofVacancy in #Drogheda a few years ago. It turned into 200 days before we stopped. The sad part is that we could have continued.

If the Councils really took the problem seriously they could easily resource crack teams via dereliction levies collected and profits after legal fees on CPO'd and renovated property. It takes will and courage. David McWilliams Fred Logue PhD MIEMA CEnv Rory Hearne DP drawdagal

These homes were boarded up when Jude Sherry & I moved to Cork City from Amsterdam in 2018 7 years later they are still boarded up In Amsterdam they have a policy that all homes can only be vacant for 1 year before compulsory rental Its time for that policy here #DerelictIreland

Without the initiative, leadership and courage of Frank O'Connor & Jude Sherry of anois we would never have gotten to the point where the level of public interest in #DerelictIreland would have merited a weekend like the #FestivalOfIdeas Maith sibh. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The Festival of Ideas could not conclude without giving due recognition to those building which have been most improved over the last 2 years. We give due credit to the winners: 1. Louth County Council Offices Fair St. 2. Former PTSB 3. Former dental practice Laurence's St.

We were delighted to tell our story at the recent Festival of Ideas in Drogheda organised by DP and Upstate Theatre which dealt with Derelict Drogheda, demonstrating that #DerelictIreland is reversible. tinyurl.com/2w5x9yrf
