Never forget that the so-called “special needs” of disabled people were created by the barriers that were created by society: Inaccessibility. Refusal to accommodate. Segregation. Institutionalization. Inequity. Injustice. Ableism. The needs of disabled people are human needs.

It is a sad commentary that in 2024, disabled people still have to ASK for access.

Stop looking at disabled people through a lens of inferiority and burden. Start looking at disabled people through a lens of access, equity, civil rights and justice.
