It took one week into 2025 for my Nieman Lab prediction to come true.

Meta's announcement on Tuesday has gotten a lot of attention, but IMHO the most important part was the one that no one seems to be talking about: changes to Facebook's feed algorithm that will make it more likely to recommend extreme and polarizing content. Quick 🧵:
