Proud of my awesome CAMB Graduate Group grad students Antonia Bass and @Natasha03844805 for presenting their research and contributing to #SACNASMidAtlantic19!
CONGRATS to Penn SACNAS for a successful Regional Meeting yesterday! These SACNISTAs did fantastic (& CRITICAL) work "uniting diverse communities through #STEM" via workshops, presentations, networking &more ๐๐ฟ๐๐พ๐๐ผ #SACNASchapters Check out #SACNASMidAtlantic19 for highlights๐ซ
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to mentor @Steph_Schreiner this summer! She gave an outstanding poster presentation at the #PennSUIP symposium. Proud of my fellow UCF McNair Program scholar!
Very excited to share my first first-author manuscript on my research conducted in the Dr. Sunny Shin as a preprint on bioRxiv!! #WomenInSTEM #BlackWomenInSTEM biorxiv.org/content/10.110โฆ
Congratulations to my amazing CAMB Graduate Group PhD student Antonia Bass on her 1st first-author manuscript on bioRxiv Microbiology. I am so proud of Antonia Bass, and I especially admire her joy for science, perseverance, & grit!
Huge congrats to Xin Liu, Dr. Sunny Shin, & colleagues on this tour-de-force work in Cell Host & Microbe: IL-1-induced GM-CSF from alveolar epithelium is a key inducer of metabolic reprogramming & activation of innate cells to control bacterial lung infection. cell.com/cell-host-micrโฆ
Thrilled to share our new Cell Host & Microbe study! We found a central role for the alveolar epithelium in responding to IL-1 from #Legionella-infected alveolar macs by producing GM-CSF, which metabolically reprograms monocytes to amplify antibacterial inflammation. A thread (1/n)
Super excited that it's also #BlackInMicroWeek ๐๐ฝ Jasmine here! Iโm a Penn Microbiology postdoc in the Dr. Sunny Shin and my research focuses on understanding how variations in bacterial LPS activates the human non-canonical inflammasome! #BIMRollCall #BlackInMicro #BlackInBacteriology
Thrilled to have an in person commencement for 2021 Penn graduates, including my former CAMB Graduate Group student Dr. Antonia Bass. We even had our own hooding ceremony! Antonia just finished a short postdoc at Merck & started a new job in regulatory affairs today! So proud of you! ๐
