It's far from the heavy snowfall we snow lovers had hoped for, but you can still enjoy some falling flakes on the lower slopes of Thredbo this morn, with hopefully lots more to come today

Nice view of the mountains from the dry fields of Wood Duck's place today. Pic pinched from this thread on ski.com.au ski.com.au/xf/threads/25-… and you can read my Weatherzone story here weatherzone.com.au/news/15cm-of-s…

Average temperatures in Switzerland have risen by almost 3°C since the pre-industrial age. Most of the country's 1800 glaciers are rapidly melting, making tragic events like this all the more likely. weatherzone.com.au/news/swiss-vil…

Infuriating that the fate of a Tasmanian AFL team (which all locals want) hangs on a new $1b covered stadium in Hobart (which no one wants). The NFL's Green Bay Packers play in an open stadium in MINUS 20°C and fans turn up. Just give Tassie a team and let 'em play wherever ffs

Lordy lord what a spectacularly brisk, crisp sunny Sydney morning, Brisk and crisp are adjectives that apply infrequently to Sydney weather and thinking about them now, they’re somewhat onomatopoeic

"People who are recognised go above and beyond what is reasonably expected (or could be expected) to make life better for others." That's from the Order of Australia eligibility guidelines and while I refrain from political comment on this or any public platform, um, old mate...

I have now moved from "Oooh, it snowed!" into jealousy mode at being stuck in Sydney but I begrudgingly retweet this because I am a sucker for a snow-encircled duckpond

Snow on Canberra's Mt Ainslie at 846m above sea level just now. For reference: - Canberra CBD is about 560m. Hence v infrequent snow - The Tidbinbillas on Canberra's western horizon (often photographed with snow & Parly House in foreground) rise to 1650m - Mt Kosciuszko is 2228m

Just had a very confusing chat with a meteorologist. He was going on about the weather in June, and I'm like "I know what month it is" and he's like "NO, IN JUNE" and I'm like huh? Aaaaaanyway the small Queensland town of "Injune" was freezing last night weatherzone.com.au/news/queenslan…

Today I have already learned that if you write coconut many times in a story you're trying to get done quickly, you may at one point spell it very, very wrongly

What a shockingly spiteful, bile-filled piece about Ange Postecoglou. Even far leftie Australians should boycott the local version of that British blow-in publication The Guardian until the bespectacled besmircher masquerading as a sportswriter apologises theguardian.com/football/blog/…
