Millipede Lab The Japanese name of family Xystodesmidae is Takakuwa-yasude-ka. "Takakuwa" was named after Dr. Yosioki Takakuwa. "Yasude" means millipede and "ka" means family in Japanese. We place the taxon rank name after the group name in Japanese.

Millipede Lab Moreover, almost every genera and species has a unique Japanese name; Riukiaria: Amabiko-yasude Xystodesmus: Takakuwa-yasude Parafontaria: Baba-yasude Basically, the same is true for other millipede groups.
