I’d like to take a brief pause from all the insanity to announce that I am officially 1/2 way done with my clinical years of general surgery residency 😱

Anyone: "I'm feeling really low today. My grief is overwhelming and I am having a hard time seeing the light." Toxic positivity culture: "You got this!!!" Don't do this. Begin to cultivate the gift of holding space for yourself and others without skipping over the grief.

We make efforts for food & shelter. Joy & positivity also require effort. During trying times, you can either choose to continue travelling a rabbit hole of thoughts or get up to go outside for a walk or run or do something to be in fresh air. Effort will bring positivity & joy.

Toxic positivity is pressuring people to look on the bright side. They have to suppress anxiety, anger, sadness, and grief. Healthy support is shielding people from the dark side. You invite them to express their pain, and show them they're not alone and won't feel it forever.
