New #mathonco blog post ! My colleagues and I present Biophysically-Constrained GBM Predictions via Deep-Learning Integrating Structural SINDY with Mechanistic Filters, a new line of work that we started at BIRS earlier this year. Check it out ! mathematical-oncology.org/blog/gbm-predi…

How can physics contribute to understanding the evolution of complexity? Although great results have been produced over the last decades, some recent "theories" appear to ignore evolutionary theory and are seriously flawed. Check this paper in PNAS pnas.org/doi/abs/10.1...

This is a major story from #ASCO25. Randomized phase 3 trial of time of day of immunotherapy infusion. Randomized to infusion before or after 3pm. Early infusion far superior: PFS 11.3 vs 5.7 HR 0.42, OS HR 0.45! Impactful, pragmatic, not costly. This should be a bigger story.

Absolutely insane amount of data in this resource from Chris Mason The Spatial Atlas of Human Anatomy (SAHA): A Multimodal Subcellular-Resolution Reference Across Human Organs biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Spatial data on 15million cells from 100 donors across multiple ages, mainly GI

What's heritable and what's plastic in cancer drug resistance? The two are linked! (Epi)genetic molecular memory is under Darwinian selection but encodes multiple plastic phenotypes. We found this with organoid experimental evolution + ML for multiomics. aacrjournals.org/cancerres/arti…

Here is an overview of Integro-Differential equation framework called "Lenia" that we implemented in HAL Library w/ Sadegh Marzban. Slide 1: local interactions (single cell type) Slide 2. local interactions (multi-cell type) Slide 3. farther range interactions Slide 4.

Can we discover the rules of morphogenesis, tissue formation and tumour growth from spatial biology data using AI? We designed *stochastic* Neural Cellular Automata to model the temporal dynamics of biological tissues, from development to cancer. arxiv.org/pdf/2506.20486

The math oncology newsletter is BACK from summer break, starting off with an epic art design from Kevin Painter, Chiara Villa and Tommaso Lorenzi -- based on the paper "Phenotype structuring in collective cell migration: a tutorial of mathematical models and methods"
