Absolutely. I left school at 16 with a handful of O levels ('83), did an A level in history while working full time ('90) & got a C. I went onto gain a 1st class degree ('97), distinction at MA ('99) & a PhD (2003) Cardiff University. Grades inflated? No. Higher education changes lives.

Another interesting object from our #MuseumDocumentation project: a wonderful example of a polished Neolithic greenstone (or epidiorite) axe. Found in Murston, the stone itself comes from the Mount’s Bay area in Cornwall, showing stone age trade links. #archaeology #cataloguing

This delicate, tiny barbed & tanged arrowhead was donated to Worthing Museum today. Found near to the the beautiful South Downs village of Clapham, Sussex, it is around 4000 years old.

Had a fantastic day digging in my favourite cave with some of my favourite people 🥰 We found some Roman pottery, animal bone, and many bone-shaped sticks 🦴 #RomanSiteSaturday (even though radiocarbon dates have all been Iron Age 👀)

A newly reconstructed pot from Cardiff - circa 3500 years old - to feature on series 11 of #DiggingForBritain. Conservator Leonie Mckenzie looking on with slight trepidation as we film it on the turntable!

Whilst counting down to our conference, it is important to reflect upon our role as lithicists. This quote was included by F. Healy in her 1986 article. At our conference we hope to explore this further, through talks and healthy debate. #Lithics #LSS2023 #Conference
