I always love going to Govan; the cool sculpture, history, church, and most of all the excellent folks who run and volunteer! What would it be without Fraser, Simon, Bren, Tom, Scott, Bex, Al, Anne Marie and the host of other folks who give their time to make it as cool as it is!

Here's a radiance scaling view of the Upper Manbeen #Pictish symbol stone. Is the "fish monster" (only ever seen on this stone) actually two symbols: 1) the salmon; 2) a wolf-head/beast? You can also see the serpent undulating across the stone #3d #photogrammetry

Some renders from a recent #3d #photogrammetry capture of the very weathered Class II #Pictish symbol stone, the "Princess Stone" (or Glenferness). There are some lovely swirly designs on the front and an array of interesting symbols and figures on the rear

Wonder if these are new scans or just the scans we did back in 2003 for investigation purposes.….. archive.archaeopticscloud.com/permalink/obje…

Time lapse of over 10 minutes work where the fence grows nearly 2mm higher! This will... eventually, be a model of part of Fishamble Street in the later 10th century. #viking #vikings #irishhistory #dublin #modelmaking #museums #archaeology

We loved having the Archaeoptics 3D model of the wee, but perfect, Bidston hogback along to see her big cousins at Govan Old! Thanks for posting about this, Museum of Liverpool #Archaeology, and great work in funding it, SMA!

You'll soon be able to see the Bidston replica alongside the West Kirby replica hogback in the Museum of Liverpool’s History Detectives Gallery. For more on the Bidston hogback from the Wirral, see the excellent The Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture (CASSS) and its Bidston entry: chacklepie.com/ascorpus/catvo…

It seems a lot of archaeology Twitter has done the exodus to the butterfly app. I’m one of these people so give us a follow over there as Archaeoptics.

Me, geeking out when Al from Archaeoptics 3D delivered his 1:1 #3D photogrammetry render of the The Govan Stones πŸ›‘πŸ‘‘' Govan Warrior, an early medieval carved stone discovered in the UofG Archaeology and Clyde Archaeology excavations, and captured by Al within minutes of the find in Sept. 2023!
