Thank you so much Cultural Studies Association for recognizing my book, Brown Saviors and their Others, an ethnographic study of race, caste, labor, and the education NGO sector in India. It means a lot! Huge congrats to @lhulseth!! Honored to be in such esteemed company

My brain cant comprehend this. I came to writing tentatively, thru organizing & no training in research. To win a thing & have brilliant scholars offer "Collective reflections on Harsha Walia's writing, activism & influence on anthropology of work" !?🙏 anthrosource.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/aw…

To help in some small way to bring this piece to light in these horrid times was so meaningful. Congrats again, @harshawalia.bsky.social and many thanks to @jennyshaw011 Saida Arjun Shankar and the other authors for honoring your teachings and to our generous reviewers.

continuing difficult conversations about identity and language in education research, I have a new paper where I think about translation through the ethics of care, sitting with insider/outsider, brown savior (Arjun Shankar) positions that savarna scholars in the US occupy.

Read my review for Arjun Shankar's phenomenal book, 'Brown Saviours and their Others' that examines the #racialisation of #caste showing how help economy reproduces global racial capitalist order and contextually specific hierarchies of power doi.org/10.1080/002203… Journal of Development Studies (JDS)

'Brown Saviours and their Others' will be evergreen in terms of the method that Arjun Shankar develops, nervous ethnography. It has been very insightful for me as a PhD student. Thank you Rohini Rai for making me read the book, on multiple occasions. The book review is amazing!

Excited to talk about my book "Brown Saviors & Their Others: Race, Caste, Labor, & the Global Politics of Help in India" on 2/20 with manu chander and Malini Ranganathan at BOL Worker Owned Bookstore Cafe Please share widely with your DMV networks!! 🙏🏽
