Arkade works around this by executing transactions offchain (no ancestor limits) and settling them onchain only when needed. This allows for parallel execution and eventually enables horizontal scaling of Bitcoin payments and contracts. #programmablemoney

Still a work in progress, but the Arkade documentation does a very fair and succinct job at formalizing the threat model for Ark based protocols.
