Good morning fellow humans! We are open today (23 Dec) from 13:45 to 18:30 owing to normal human circumstances. Open tomorrow (24 Dec) from 10:00 to 14:00, then closed until 27 Dec, for supernatural reasons. (We have books to explain all of this, plus unrelated things.)

It's 2024! We are still a secondhand bookshop and we are still probably haunted. (Sorry/you're welcome/surely you must have known?) Our own @_youbetterrun_ has the supernatural gossip on episode 23 of Tales From Wyrd Scotland:

Armchair Books will be closed for renovation 13-20 March*! Don't worry, we'll still be old and dusty when we re-open. Maybe even DUSTIER. Certainly older, given how time works. *We hope. Might be longer. We're extremely unprofessional.

So as it turns out there are, like, a LOT of books to move around. WHO KNEW? We also built and moved quite a bit of furniture about as far as caffeine could take us. Re-opening the afternoon of Friday 22 March! Unless circumstances! (Thanks for bearing with us.)

Due to circumstances beyond our control*, we're opening a bit later today (Saturday 1st June): 12:30 to 17:30. *We control almost all other circumstances, as you'd expect from a small bookshop. Just not this one.

Hi! We're opening a little late today (around 1pm). Have an extra coffee this morning, come join us in the afternoon. We'll all just be staring at all the walls of books and going 'whoa'. Your presence will add gravitas.

We usually open at 10am but today we are opening at 11am. Variety is the spice of life; let our surprise variable opening times delight you like sumac and Aleppo pepper. Such whimsy!

Closing at around 16:00 today (instead of our usual 18:30), which just means you'll have more time to read tonight. We're so thoughtful.

Armchair Books will be open limited hours on Wednesday 11 September (10:00 to 14:00). We'll be locked inside that afternoon, forcing ourselves to do some really tedious bookshop cleaning. It's not all swanning around the book dust, you see. Sometimes we also fight the dust.

Surprise! We're opening at 14:00 today (Sunday 8th December). We'll try to work on some better surprises in the future.
